With the global production of non-safety syringes in the tens of billions, a traditional reusable syringe can be produced for about 10 cents. Due to the higher cost of safety syringes, hospitals have been slow to adopt the latest technology, despite legislation which mandates adoption of the best safety solutions. As a result of its unique design, costs to manufacture SafeShot’s Epiphany Safety Syringe are comparable to a traditional syringe making it more broadly accessible. EFI, LLC Selling Heller Commemorative Rifles

EFI, LLC is pleased to announce that it will be producing rifles commemorating the 2008 landmark United States Supreme Court decision in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller. The Supreme Court ruled in Dick Heller’s favor, finding that the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution protects an individual right to keep and bear arms and that a complete ban on handguns is unconstitutional.

“I’m flattered that EFI, one of the best manufacturers of precision rifles, is working to raise funds for us,” said Mr. Heller. Money raised from the sale of the commemorative rifles will help support the Heller Foundation formed after the historic June 26 decision, and the U.S. Bill of Rights Foundation, formed several years ago by Dane von Breichenruchardt. The foundations are raising funds to defray the significant costs of litigation to overturn the onerous firearm restrictions recently passed by the Washington, DC City Council. Both foundations are not for profit organizations.

“Winning the first Heller case signaled the start of a very long race. Fully regaining our gun rights will be a marathon, not a sprint, and we’ll need a lot of help and support along the way,” said Mr. von Breichenruchardt.

After the Supreme Court’s ruling the Washington DC City Council amended the District’s firearm regulations. The new regulations:

Limit residents to registering one handgun every 30 days,
Require training prior to registering a firearm,
Requires handguns to be re-registered every three years,
Prohibit the registration of handguns that are not listed on California’s Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale,
Ban handguns manufactured after January 1, 2011 that do not have microstamping technology, and
Prohibit the registration of semi-automatic rifles.

Future Heller cases will be crafted to overturn these onerous and blatantly unconstitutional restrictions.

Purchasers of the Signature Gold rifles will also have the chance to meet Dick Heller and Dane von Breichenruchardt at a private event to be held at Storm Mountain Training Center.

EFI, LLC will produce the Signature Silver series of rifles for a limited time period. These rifles will be stamped with Dick Heller’s signature and accented with silver. Like the Signature Gold rifles, the Signature Silver Series will also come with an airline-approved hard case, bipod, scope, and Certificate of Authenticity signed by Mr. Heller.

Second Annual Space Journalism Prize Announced by SpaceShot CEO

SpaceShot founder and CEO Sam Dinkin announced today the second annual Space Journalism Prize. The $ 1,000 prize will be awarded to the best article from January to September 2005 to promote human spacefaring. Submissions are being accepted starting now with a deadline of April 7, 2006.

“Last year we got dozens of submissions from authors around the world,” said Sam Dinkin, CEO of SpaceShot and founder of the Space Journalism Prize. “The goal of this prize is to further the discussion of spaceflight. We hope to open space for average people, not just government astronauts and wealthy people.”

The inaugural prize went to Eli Kintisch for a multi-part story on the Ansari X-Prize. Mr. Kintisch is now one of three judges for this year’s prize. Also judging will be Sam Dinkin and Jeff Foust of The Space Review.

Entries will be judged on four criteria:

Impact: how did this article improve the image of human spacefaring and influence policy, the media, and the public;

Originality: finding an unusual topic or a clever angle on an old topic;

Quality of the writing; and

Research: the accuracy and depth of the material used in the article.

All articles must be written in English and be between 500 and 5,000 words in length. The winner will be notified by the prize committee no later than May 7, 2006. There will also be an award ceremony at an upcoming space conference.

Battery Powered Heat Gun – Approved For Use Around Fueled Aircraft

The Malcom MCH-100 Portable Battery Powered Heat Gun Kit is designed for installing heat shrinkable tubing, soldering and welding plastic parts in remote locations. Ideally suited for battle damage repairs, this battery powered heat gun can be used in and around fueled aircraft, ships and other vehicles where N-Hexane, JP-5 jet fuel or equivalent vapors are present.

Featuring interchangeable heating elements from 200 to 400 watts and a wide variety of nozzles for many applications, the Malcom MCH-100 Portable Battery Powered Heat Gun can reach temperatures of up to 1,100 degrees F has a built-in motor with a fan to provide 2.66 CFM air flow.
